Roast Profiles

Which roast profile is right for you?

Taste preferences vary, so there is no right or wrong when it comes to coffee. However, there are some general guidelines to help you get the most out of your coffee experience. The information below provides a brief overview of the three roast profiles featured by Roasted 314.

Light Roasts

If you want to appreciate the subtleties and unique flavor characteristics of the coffee bean, a light roast is the way to go. With a tea like hue, these coffees can taste earthier to some but also showcase the beans flavors as well as contain a higher caffeine content. They are best served without adding creamer or sweeteners.

Medium Roasts

While still maintaining the bean’s flavor notes, medium roast coffee can also handle small amounts of cream and sweeteners. It works well with most brewing methods making it the most common and versatile bean. This roast profile is the go-to for most customers.

Dark Roasts

For those who prefer a stronger coffee flavor, dark roasts work well for both espresso shots and mixed coffee beverages. Dark roasts hold up well to cream, sweeteners and added flavors making them a favorite for hot and cold blended coffee beverages such as cappuccinos and lattes.

To maximize the flavors of your Roasted 314 Light, Medium and Dark Roasts, I recommend the following brewing methods for each:

Light Roast: French Press, Pour Over or Machine Drip.

Medium Roast: French Press, Cold Brew, Pour Over, Machine Drip, Siphon.

Dark Roast: Cold Brew, Machine Drip, Moka Pot, Turkish Coffee Pot.
